To swap a Solstice GXP/Sky Redline turbo Ecotec 4 banger into my Trans Am?
260hp/260tq from the factory ain’t nothing to sneeze at, I’m sure it weighs less than an LS(?) and is very tunable..... but they’re harder to come by, and cost about the same or MORE than a simple LS/trans/ecu setup.
This is what happens when I am bored at work on a Friday, by the way.

Put a twin charged Ecotec from a Cobalt SS in it. One of the local guys had one in his Ariel Atom.

Do it!! There are already plenty of LS powered Trans Ams out there, but this would be unique.

Yeah, the price is outragous, but its a brand new crate engine. Plus its setup for rwd vs fwd. I mean have you priced out an ls7 or Ls9?

Not as troll as throwing an Iron Duke in it.

Its currently heading this direction, minus the black (or any) paint, shaker hood, and side spats

Nope, biggest/most expensive I’ve been looking at are LS2 6.0L’s. Dropouts with wiring, ECUs, and transmissions run in the $5k range with low-ish miles.

Don’t tempt me

man, a connect and cruiser ls7 is something like 20 grand. Amazing motors, but 20 grand...

It’s the same engine the Cobalt uses. They come pretty cheap as longs blocks. $2k range.
Guy on Cobaltss.net is swapping the fuel Solstice drive train into a 240sx. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/advanced-performance-modifications-130/ecotec-2-0-ldk-swapping-into-240sx-s13-324673/

As a joke I added one to my Amazon Wish List when my wife asked what I wanted for Christmas.... $15,000 but its complete. Can’t be simpler than that!

I’d need a trans as well. Just figured I’d grab the whole kaboodle from a wrecked RWD car.

I have a “free” 3.2L out of a Cherokee upstairs at work.... tempting....

You’d need the OEM harness and BCM unless you wanted to go stand alone.
You essential make the car things it’s a Solstice. Headlights, taillights and all.
